Frank Leslie Dadswell's story
Frank Leslie Dadswell, the last of the six children of Stephen and Ellen (Pett) Dadswell, was born in Melbourne on 21 February 1890.
He began work as a brass finisher while still living at home with his parents. Later he described himself as a turner, and later still an engineer. He appears to have travelled to England during World War One, arriving in London aboard the Osterley in 1916 when he was aged 26.
He returned to Australia and during World War One was a munitions worker. In 1919 he married Elizabeth (Bess) Kirk Raff, daughter of James and Ann Jane Raff, and the couple had one daughter, Elsie Doreen Dadswell, born in 1920. They lived at Essendon and later Camberwell.
Frank Dadswell died on 24 April 1950 when aged 60, Elizabeth (Bess) Dadswell died in August 1964 aged about 71.
